On June 13, we held the annual prom.  This year the theme was masquerade.   A great Line up and turnout.  The prom itself was held in the ballroom and the after party was at the venue....Here are some of the many pictures taken: Against a dark sky twinkling with lights and the Northern Lights in the background, a great time was held by all.

Entries open NOW for Queen and King -just enter the ballroom, about half way up are the voting boards you may enter in the correct board, Pink for Prom Queen, Blue for Prom King.  You must be present at prom if you win.  Voting will open June 10.  Neither entries nor votes cost anything.  Winners will receive lindens, crowns, and gift certificates to amazing designers.

Photographers from Picturesque Studios will be on hand to take traditional prom pictures.  They will be available for purchase.

SECOND LIFE LIVE MUSIC AND VENUES FROM THE WORLD'S LARGEST PROCRASTINATOR PART 1

Sighs and now we know why I am no longer any good to run a venue, I can't be dependable as much as I used to be.  But Have no fear......some things the health issues I just refuse to let stop me from.    For instance....the line up is done for this years Spring Prom and after Prom Party.  shhhhhhh its a secret.  The theme and date.  LOL Last year when I posted it 15 minutes later someone else posted the same theme prom and that it was being put together.  So not even the performers know the theme yet.  I am just waiting for a couple of more things to come together......the invitations being made and lining a photographer up.  Once they are all in place the invitations will be going out.....so watch for it.

The other thing I refuse to let health issues hold me back from is Stand Up 2 Cancer.  This year we are attempting something different.  SL is such a diverse community, made up from people all around the globe.  There are Stand Up 2 Cancer Organizations in quite a few other countries,  We are hoping that instead of just directing the fundraising activities to just the US that we hold a place in many of the global organizations, so that residents have a choice.  To donate lindens which would go to the US organization or to donate directly to the country nearest them with the use of a credit card.  We want to make our fundraising efforts as diverse as our community.

I am also considering an event to raise funds for Nepal.  The devastation they have gone through, the loss of lives, the costs of getting them the help they will need.  There are only two other times I have worked on fundraisers due to catastrophes.  The first was when Moody organized the fundraiser for Haiti, the second was when we put put together a fundraiser for Rodanthe.  So I will be contacting International Red Cross and seeing exactly how where monies go that we may raise.  Most of you know I am a bit hardheaded about transparency and accountability.  It comes from the 20+ years of working on non-profit boards before I ever came to sl.  Some local, some statewide and a couple national.  I have been extremely lucky over the years to have the exposure and experience I have.

The next couple of weeks will be extremely busy for me as my oldest is walking across the stage-very pregnant to receive her Master of Education degree.  and a couple of weeks later giving birth to my second granddaughter.

Now back to the things I have not written about but want to make sure you get caught up on.  Come to think of it....this is already long, I should probably start another.

Keep in mind as I go through these, I am the self proclaimed world's largest procrastinator.

On April 16 I ventured out.....to one of my all time favorite venues....Kickin.  When I got there it was toward of the end of Liam Defoe's show.  I stayed for Vinnie aka Acoustic Rhapsody and then my buddy Johnny Paramour (besides he always does my favorite Clint Black song for me).  I can never say enough good things about Kickin.  If you don't make a habit out of going you should, it is always fun, the owners LilMissPriss Lane and ScrtsSafe Waco have to be some of the nicest on the grid.  Everyone always feels so welcome in their warm embrace to their guests.  Such a great atmosphere, and great lineup of talent......I can't picture a more fun time.

I did it make to one more event on the 16th.....there was no way I could pass up Russell Eponym and to top it all off, he was at someone that I consider one of very closest friends' venue , CeSoir.  Not even going to touch on the people yet.  This venue is one of the prettiest I have seen.  Live music, readings, art, and the most beautiful settings to hold it all in.  Now I will tell you that the owners of CeSoir. Aeon and Mirelle, I can not possibly say enough good about them.  They are truly some of the best couple you will ever meet in sl.  Mire tickles me to death, if I am quiet for too long, I will get the note card or email saying she hasn't seen me and wants an update on how I am doing.  She is one of the most caring people I know.  Russell and I go back to when I first opened to BS's.  Over the years a strong friendship and bond formed......he also is an amazing performer and is well deserved of the his name The Music Whisperer.

That was a lot for one day.....

The 17th of April I was only able to make it to one venue.....but ohhhh so worth it,  It was a new venue for me.  The best part of sl is finding these gems.  Branagh's Jazz, where I got to see another wonderful old friend, the oh so very talented Phil Setner.  Phil is the kind of performer that makes you say....wow what a voice!!!!!  It is something I always think when I hear him and I was able to bring him to BS's for the B2B Awards ceremony....Just when I was thinking the wow, what a voice, two other people im'd me me saying the same thing.

SECOND LIFE LIVE MUSIC AND VENUES FROM THE WORLD'S LARGEST PROCRASTINATOR PART III

The next few days I just took some time and enjoyed SL.  There are some really fun places in sl.  At past Christmases I have sent out landmarks to many different themed sims that I thought were done so well and so much fun.  This the kid side of me....the same kid side that is so proud of the amusement park and the roller coasters that are there...of which I should be adding in another one or two in the next couple of weeks.  I just like to check them out first and make sure they are quality.

I also finished the line up for this years prom and after party. Just about finished the build for it.

Now that you have heard all the excuses I have had, back to venue hopping on the 29th of April.  I started out at the Rhodehouse.  Sometimes it is just amazing to me how many live music venues are in Second Life that I have never been to.  The Rhodehouse is one of them.  I have seen them in events many times, yet this was the first time I had visited them.  What a comfortable venue.  I listened to
Brendan Shoreland while there.  What a wonderful time.

From there I went on to see a special friend....Josie Anderton at the The Titanic.  Another amazing live music venue and so much more owned by my dear dear friend Mara Menges.  For those that are not aware The Titanic is built to replicate the one from the movie of the same name.  The Titanic Build has been visited by some very famous people one which has made numerous blockbuster movies and been written about in some very famous publications.  Mara also maintains a memorial with every name of every person lost on the Titanic.  I remember the day she she sat me down and related the whole story to me.  It is amazing.  She took the time and introduced me to a few different people, and it was then (though I already knew after meeting one of Oprah's producers in sl) that you truly never know who you are talking to in Second Life.  In Real Life they come from all walks of life.  I know the story about the Titanic, I know that myself personally have met VP's of major Fortune 500 companies and retired professionals that still do consulting work.  I have met Academic Professors, and many from some part of the medical field.  I am lucky that many have trusted me with their rl, but even the team knows I do not any under circumstances share that information.  Even when it is kind of disgusting.  So I am honored that Mara shared her information with me and took the time to introduce me to a few people that she knew.

Josie Anderton is a sweetheart of a woman.  When I first met her we did not become fast friends because I was gullible enough to buy into a friend's drama.  As time went by we became amazing friends, not even remembering why we had not spoken much to each other before.  The day she stood on a stage at a fundraising event I had put together, and dedicated "Thank You For Being a Friend" to me, brought tears to my eyes.  The song meant so much to me that I had a builder  have it played in gift that I sent out to those that were on the team with me, because they meant and still mean so very much to me.

After seeing two very old friends I popped over to another venue I had not been to Sundown Beach to listen ElvisAronPresley Lisa.  It has been quite some time since I had seen him.  The last time it was a formal venue and he took the time during his performance to dance with each woman that was not already dancing.  This time, he has added a band it is not formal.

Finally I am getting to the end of this blog.  I am really long winded this time......reminiscing a lot as I write.

Yesterday the 4th of May I was able to get back out.  As I checked events I saw another friend performing and off I went to Ecnad Nation to listen to the talented Kevin Thomas.  Another very recommended performer.  It was an all originals show and Kevin is wonderful at originals add to that the charming personality and it is always a very wonderful performance.

When Kevin was done, I took a break for a bit, then later headed over to The Gspot to see Ganjo Mokeev, unfortunately he was having technical difficulties and had to cancel the show at the last minute.  The G Spot Block Party is ALWAYS a fun place to just hang out.  They had a great stream and my buddy Jolie Serendipity came over and we waited for the QuadRadix.  You can't help but love the QuadRadix....4 streams dualing together --Max Kleene, Denny Mac, Sabian Inglewood, and Ben Cleanslate

In the meantime we got to discussing the next upcoming Awards show her builder group has at BS's and its theme.  As the QuadRadix took the stage I asked their management team if they could perform that song.  So I gave them the time and date and the song name.  Unfortunately, well fortunately for all of us, but unfortunately for that particular event, they have to work around their performers' individual schedules and this will not work for for them.  So I am looking of someone that can perform the cover song "We Built This City on Rock and Roll"  If you know of anyone, please let me know.

As I finish up this blog, I wanted to say thank you.  I hate going on about my health issues, but in the little I have said, so many of you take the time and check up on me.  Often times just leaving me messages that I am in your hearts.  You truly have no idea how very much this touches me.  I love each and everyone of you...You have given me so much.  If I could find a way to stretch my arms long enough and give you all the biggest bear hug known to man, I would.

This morning as I was finishing up this blog I ventured out to another to another new to me venue, Voodoo Blues.  Again another venue I have often seen in events but never been to.  I loved it.  I also got to hear LoneWolf55 Genesis.  I have not had feeling of what a great place to relax and have my morning coffee since Guthries closed.  Today I found it while listening to LoneWolf and relaxing at Voodoo.  I will be starting many more days there.

I have noticed something,  the events in the earlier hours of of the day are very slim with only one or two venues doing anything.  If I had someone that I could count on as a reliable General Manager, I would reopen BS's.  There is so much that is missed by not having music going.

TAX DAY

I am such a procrastinator....I got my taxes done yesterday.  It only took me a week a little at a time...lol.

I had not intended to venue hop today, I was up early after passing out very early yesterday.....but on a whim I looked on events I looked in events.  Lately I have found events in the mornings and early afternoon truly lacking.  I swear if BS's was open I would do some amazing line ups during that time period.  I know, realistically, that physically I can't do it.  If I had a general manager that I truly trusted, BS's could reopen.

On that whim today though I saw a performer that I adore....Mavenn.....she was up and performing early.  I had to go.  so off to another venue I have never been to...Cafe Musique.  A nice venue though I felt a bit under dressed in my jeans.....but I still had a great time.  A friend of mine was also in-world and I brought him over.  He did not normally go to live music events, and he was totally impressed.

Hint hint....to those of us that wonder what happened to the crowds, try getting out more, meeting people in other communities and introducing them to live music.  My experience is that so many do not even know that live music even exists.  Who knows you may find other things you like or better yet make new friends.  I know I took someone completely new to a Max Kleene show.  He has gone on to following Max and also following David Csiszer.  who knows how many other shows he has since been to.  Each of us can make a difference in the live music community by just reaching out, spreading our own horizons.

Back to Mavenn's show.  She is amazing.  I also had the pleasure of seeing another special friend BadOne.  LOL imagine my surprise to see him up so early in the morning.  it was 4AM sltime.  At least he had coffee there for me.

Taking a break for a while....the dog has to go out, need coffee....then back to a venue that is quickly becoming a favorite.  LA Club.  Nhoami has to have the most versatile venue I know of.  Every time I am there it is a different theme.  Today a rain forest.It was too cool.  I got to see a performer that does not sing much, but dj's a lot.  After hearing him, personally I think he should sing more.  For now though, if you want to hear Evan Truman you need to visit the LA Club

Today after my nap, I ventured back out again.  Back to some favorites.....Seeing performers, I could miss Russell Eponym at End of Time.  I had not been there in a while.  End of Time is an amazing venue.  A drop dead gorgeous build.  Russell is also one of the nicest performers and can make any day a good day!

I spent some time at a venue I had never been to before.  Lemonrock Cafe.  This is a fun venue and the owner does amazing things with her stage for each performer.  Congratulations River Lemondrop.....You truly make each permanence....a performance!!!!  I found Lemondrop in events when I saw my friend AMForte was playing there.  You have to adore AM, she is soooo real when she talks to you and makes every show fun.  Add that to an amazing voice and you are in for a great show.

 After AM I stayed for KokoIncognito, another amazing performer.  That was when I was able to see the amazing things River did at the beginning of each performance.  I could try to describe it but there is no way I could I do it justice.  My best advice is to watch for a show at Lemondrop and head over there, then stay for the next show, you will be impressed.

There is not a full day of venue hopping and avoiding my special friend, Max Kleene.  Heading over to Solarwinds, I was disappointed to not see my friend LaLuce and hoping she is doing well.  As always a great crowd though.  Max's shows also give me a chance to catch up with friends I have not seen in a while.

Laughing at myself...have you guys noticed that me....the technically challenged one is actually getting good at inserting pictures and links in here.  It only took me a few years.  Slow but trainable.

On to True Sayings Music Venue.  I am seeing tons of new venues.  I am hoping many of the befriend some of the older venues and learn some ins and outs about staying power.  Too many come and go along with the loss of some old favorites.  True Sayings had a performer I have never heard before playing.  A new performer, Ron Hamilton that is well on his way up....Versatile and a great voice!  If you get a chance check him out.

One more day of seeing my buddy Max Kleene.  This time at another old friend's venue,  Two Moon Paradise, a truly beautiful venue.  Though I don't get out often, I love seeing old friends.  Venues that I have known for years.  I often wonder why other venue owners never really venture away from their venues much.  There are so many great performers and venues out there.

Until I get the energy to venue hop again......I am getting there, good days and bad days.

TIME FOR A CONFESSION

Many of you know that I had to close my venue in December due to health issues, I should probably explain it a bit more because it has a great deal with the consistency of the blog and venue hopping.  In December I slept for about 16 hours, my son arriving woke me up.  When I woke up, my speech was slurred and I was totally confused.  Could not type, could not work my phone, was just so far out there.  My son was able to get my dr's office on the phone, and they actually answered instead of voice mail.  they talked to me for all of a minute and knew exactly what the problem was.  They had me take a dose of medicine every 10 minutes....If I had not gotten a bit better within an hour, I was to head to the hospital, they would have flown me into the university hospital I have me drs at....Thank goodness the meds did the trick and stopped me from going into a coma.  It was time for me to take a med that insurance previously denied.  Two appeals and a call to Aetna's headquarters in CT, got the med approved.  It ran me $72.00 in December, not too bad.  And it did the trick.....Kept me from going back into the sleeping mode....not confused etc any longer.  In January, I called to get a refill....no problem the med was approved, the cost was not.  it is running $900 a month.  Even if I give up the sim, there is no way I can afford another $900 a month.  So back to appeals,  I have gone through the appeal process, the grievance process, the pharmaceutical company.  By the way, this is the only med in the US.  There are no alternatives.  Turns out everything is being stopped because of Social Security....though they approve the med, they will not give a break on the price.  Now I am in a third party over Social Security for an appeal.  If that gets denied it goes to a judge.  I have been taking my meds, but not taking them correctly.  When you see me bouncing around sl, I am taking them correctly.....I get 5 days at a time and that is running me $200.  so I end up spreading out the last few days or skipping a day.  Back to the sleeping mode.  though I am sleeping for too long at a time, it is not enough to send me into a coma, but even the dr said that these meds have to be taken correctly, or I am running that risk. This is all from the failing organ.  It is beating the cancer as to which will get worse first. So I blog when I can take them correctly and hope that this appeal goes through for me.

I will admit that my opinion of Social Security is not high.  It is almost like they are playing God.  I have to wonder, how many people are worse off than me and needing medications that Social Security will not pay for, so they go without or spread them out and take them incorrectly.  I am a fighter....but not many people will follow the avenues that I do to take care of things.  I think it is sad what they do to people.  LOL can't blame Obama care on this one.  It was in place before that.

It has been a couple of months of being on the phone with half the country and all the hours spent on hold.  Though I have learned a few things.  The pharmaceutical business is worse than OPEC when it comes to playing with prices.  I learned that Salix Pharmacuetical purchased this drug from a pharmaceutical company in Italy, and that they hold the patent for only the US and Canada with it.  Salix holds the patent until something like 2024, so no break in price anytime soon, but that Canada also sells the same drug from the Italian pharmaceutical company in Italy as a generic and runs about $300 actually a bit less for two months supply.  I could do that like a drop in the bucket.  Only problem.....it is not in the US and it needs a prescription.  Chuckles as many Canadian friends as I have, I wish one was a doctor....lol.

So my blogs will come and go based on how I am doing.

BACK TO SECOND LIVE LIVE MUSIC VENUE HOPPING

Its has been a long first quarter of the year.....but getting through it.   Unfortunately I don't  get to venue hop as much as I would like to.  but every now and then like today I get a chance.

I actually started last night when I went and saw one of my best friends, Max Kleene.  Unfortunately I did not get a picture....  I adored the show....but I also have to say...the venue it was the first time I was there....and and all I can say is WOW!!!   Jake (Puhpow) and Molly Masingh ...got to hand it them....they put together a really cool venue but more so the name.....so rare, so unique, so creative.....THE ONLY VENUE is the name.  I love it!


Today I started at The 1st Chapter Live Music Venue and got to see someone I rarely see anymore...(chuckles, isn't that everyone)  but today it was Jeffah.

Then on to Roadhouse Dreams where I listened to a performer I had not heard before.  Singergirl.  She has quite a voice and is sooo versatile.  Pretty impressive....someone I would love to hear again.

I cut Roadhouse Dreams short to go see an old friend that was performing and I had not heard in a very long time.  Johnny Paramour was at The Pier.  Such a talented man.  To top it all off though we had not seen each other in a while, he remembered my request and played it.  No one else does my Clint Black favorite song the way Johnny can.  Johnny has to be one of the most talented country performers in SL....I miss seeing him as much as I used to.

That was enough venue hopping for me today, maybe (hopefully I will get out more this week.

I have to add in though, my very very good friend, Jolie Serendipity has her building group B2B, and each month they so building competitions.  She keeps her main platform at The Shore if you are looking for more information.

Jolie also holds an awards performance each month at BS's "Bring a Friend & Stay Awhile"  The month of March brought us a very special award show.  Russell Eponym performed and gave out the awards.  It was sooo great to have Russell back at BS's.  Russell is one of the very first performers that opened BS's with me.  We used to sit and talk about the live music community.  If I had an idea, he would listen and we would discuss it.  I would have been lost in the beginning if it weren't for Russell.

I had gone out to the store before that show...running late, I was running late and knew I would be logging in as soon as I walked my door, to get notices out in time.  When all the sudden I got a message on my phone.  Thank goodness I have gmail, gtalk or hangouts as it is now called, FB messenger and Skype on my phone....it was from my very special friend Max Kleene, asked if he could call me and of course we talked.  He was at Funky Freddy's barn for a rl jam and they wanted to know if they could do an impromptu show.  What luck, They streamed in live from the barn right after Russell.

I so miss the venue.  Kicking Real Life  as it rears its ugly head.

On that note though.  Any performer that is a member of BS's Management Group has access to change the stream at BS's.  If you ever feel like just doing something impromptu, I don't need to be online.....the venue is there.  Every now and then there is a special event there but otherwise it is yours for use.

ST PATRICK'S DAY

Its finally here!!!  The day everyone becomes Irish.....and such a fun day in the live music community!!  Digs back in closet otherwise known as inventory fins cute green dress, shamrock tatoos, top hat and of course my shoulder leprechaun.  Off I go

First stop Smokin Aces....Shannon and Rocky did a great job in decorating.  I love all the shamrocks on the floor.  Shannon and Rocky hav one of th most fun venues in sl.  Gotta love the two of them....They have some of the largest hearts.

The First performer was Liam Defore.  It was the first time I listened to him for an hour.  Pretty impressive!!! Such an enjoyable hour!!!  Liam was sooo ready for St. Patrick's Day

After Liam, Lisa Petrolhead was on.  As often as I heard her name,  I never got to see he perform.  I enjoyed myself listening....I went afk to catch up on blogging and while I was writing a ton of old friends came in......Hogan was next!!!

If you have never heard Hogan, you should make a point of hearing him.  His show along with his Hi-Steppers are always fun.  Hogan is one of the most talented men in sl....You can't help but have a great time.......................Hogan was there in his Irish bet and had his kilt on....added in some Irish songs, he was holiday ready.

After Hogan, a very dear friend took the stage...Eliz Wantanabe.  To know her is to truly love her.  and boy can she sing!  Anether performer you should not miss.  Eliz has such a wide range.  At Smokin whe does country, when I used to have he at BS's she would go formal.  Today she brought out her Irish roots and sang some of the most beautiful Irish ballards.

Though I meant to bounce one venue to another, Smokin had such a great line up I could not bring myself to leave.  When Eliz finishes, I guess I should fix dinner.  I have not had an appetite lately and have to remind myself eat at least once a day.  Too bad it doesn't show....lol

Thought I would go bop around for a bit so off into events I go....UtahCowboy Kayer is at PH's Pjama party by LA Club.  It has been too long since I got to see Utah.....off I went and I love the Pajama theme.  Utah's name is deceiving....he is amazing and not country despite the name.
The pajama party theme Nhaomi Morrisey put together  is amazing......one of the best I have seen.  I am going to hate having to go to rl when Utah is done.....

Sheesh Utah had to make me turn red......he is sooo sweet.

I went on to Mountain Cave Club.  This venue holds a special place in my heart.  Spencer, the owner came aboard when I was organizing the Stand Up 2 Cancer fundraiser.  He was fairly new and looking for guidance....I see him now and he has grown this venue into a really fun venue.  One of my favorite performers was there. I had heard her once and booked her through Kat Vargas....the first time we talked we became fast friends and now I can't picture her ever not being my friend....She is truly a very special person Parker Static.

Alright I admit this blog is spanning a few days.

Jay was actually in world with me and Max was performing t the Pier.  I was so happy to be able to take him to his first live music show and it was Max  along with many of my friends there.  Jay enjoyed Max as much as I did.  And The Pier, it is such a fun venue.  When they hired Coreopsis Bluebird as a general manager, they truly hired a gem of a woman.  After Max was GS and wow they are amazing!  Exclusive only at The Pier every other Saturday.  Guess where I will be every other Saturday.  The Pier  After I did a double take that Max did not go bale but just never rezzed for me....

BEEN TOO LONG

RL has managed to keep me under a rock for a bit, but not one to let anything rule my life, I am getting back more and more.

Starting today at one of my favorites,  Kickin where ScrtsSafe and LilMissPriss gave me the warmest welcome.....love those two.  Remy Farman was on the stage and kicking butt....it has been way too long since I have seen him.  One of my favorite pics of myself came from someone taking pics at Remy and Tia's venue.

I attended a very good friend's 8th rezzday party the other day.  She had told me ahead of time that I was in for treat.  Never did I expect to hear what I heard.  Some voices you have to ask why you are not hearing them in rl.  This one you can as he has done two seasons in Broadway and hmmmm trying to remember it, it sounds like it would be the equivalent of Broadway in London.  If you ever in your sl get a chance to hear Luciano Lionheart....my best advice is run to it don't stop at go don't collect $200.....just run to it and know you are listening to a man that can go from opera to pop and does each beautifully.  It is truly a treat be able to hear him live.  There is nothing better than finding new performers that just blow you out of the water.

Look I finally learned how to add a pic to my blog.  Even technically challenged, given time I can learn.  And this one I just have to share...we all know and love ScrtsSafe and what a great sense of humor he has.  Remy's song just made him want to grow a beard.....with a bit of rogaine he did geow on.....though he must have used a ton of rogaine to make it grow this fast.

AN AMAZING COMMUNITY

Since I closed the venue in December, I have really stayed under a rock.  Going through the rl stuff, facing realizations and limitations as well as a loss.  Yes the venue was a huge part of my life for over 5 years, it was a loss of sorts.  I still miss it terribly and thinking of a special event to do this spring....though for now it is secret.  Last year when I published it 15 minutes later another venue posted they were doing the same and even used the same name.  Lesson learned!!!  But in truth that is neither here nor there right now.

I wanted to take a second and thank so many of you that have reached out and still do.....just to check on me and see how I am doing.....It means sooo very much to me.  Over the years youhave gone from performers and venue owners to true friends.  There really aren't enough words to tell you how much that means to me.  Even when I enter a show you reach out in ims.....Performers your acknowledgement of me is is amazing.

People always wonder why I love the sl live music community so very much....the answer lies in each of you.

HOW DO YOU SAY THANK YOU

How do you say thank you, I have been asking myself that for a few days now.  Those two little words do not seem enough.  From every performer that has been at BS's this past year, to the strong stand we made in Stand Up to 2 Cancer.  The birthday party, Halloween Party, the very many people that visited the venue and amusement park ....the friendships formed.  To the most overwhelming of all, the Holiday Gala and the out pouring of love and support I received when I explained about my health and having to close the venue.  There are not enough words.  Xander Nichting, Parker Static, Tyro Hollywood, Max Kleene, Dango, Quartz, Duplicat, Eliz Wantanabee, Rocky Hilburton, the many venue owners,  friends that I have known since I first started sl.  The tributes, you all had me blubbering like a baby..

Normally, I would send out gifts or like last year, the many most fascinating sims that you should visit.  This year no gifts, no places to visit.  The gift I have for you is my heart.  I very rarely share my personal on FB or SL, never wanting to complain or receive sympathy.  This year I did, and though it was hard for me to share, each of you wrapped me in support and love.  Thank you are two words.....such little words in comparison to what you have truly given me.  Know that my arms both in rl and sl are wrapped around each of you.  I love you for what you do and have accomplished and how much joy you have given me. 

May you have the most joyous Christmas surrounded by those you love, and the New Year bring you the very best.

HOLIDAY GALA AND THE FUTURE OF BS'S

 This has to be the most difficult notecard I have ever written.  Many of you are friends that know me well and know that I have been on an organ transplant list for many years, some of you are aware that last year I was diagnosed with a stage 4 lymphoma (non aggressive though and slow growing).  Between the failing organ and the stage 4 it knocked me out of a transplant and out of chemo.  So it has been race to see which would get worst faster.  After holding its own and getting worse very slowly over the years, it turns out the failing organ jumped into the lead very quickly.  This has caused some things that have changed my limitations.  Unfortunately I am not able to meet a venue schedule anymore, as I can get out of it, not be able to keep up things as my motor abilities can slow down drastically, or even just have to pass out during the middle of a line up.  None of this is fair to the guests of BS's or the performers.  You have all given me so much over the years.  I will be closing BS's except for special events and our last line ups will be the Holiday gala.

The past 5 and half years have given us so very much as a venue, I hope you will join us as we celebrate our Holiday Gala going out in style.

I am not leaving sl in as much as I am forced into accepting some new limitations on me.  I will make rounds of the different venues and keep up with the directory, with Stand Up 2 Cancer, with the blog (though it has kind of fallen off the past couple of months it will make a come back) 

Thank you all for all that you have given over the past few years.  Friendships have formed that will never be lost.  Performers will obtain me more as a stalker.  I do love each and everyone of you for you have all touched my life in so many ways.

LIVE MUSIC ACOUSTIC VS TRACK WHAT DOES IT MEAN EXACTLY

Enough is enough, I have seen so many arguing this point lately it is once again way out of hand and hard feelings are developing AGAIN!  This has been an ongoing argument since I started with the live music community.

To be honest I am tired of hearing it.  I wonder why we can not just accept the differences after all we are ultimately one community and a very diverse community at that.

But here are my opinions.  Acoustic performers ----not all of them--- but some that seem to complain the loudest are the ones whose attendance is down.  First of all attendance is down all over.  Second, because you can play a guitar or a piano, does not mean that you have a great singing voice.  Or that you are flexible with what the majority likes to hear.  For instance....I once had an acoustic performer say to me.....when he saw how well my country night was doing, that he could do country.  Now in my wildest imagination could I imagine him doing a Clint Black song (my favorite) or something by Rascal and Flatts, etc....I think you get the idea.  It was him desperate for what others had.

Track performers, some of you have the most versatile and wonderful voices.  I know you can't play an instrument in your hands.  But you use the instrument that was given to you....your voice.  I am sure that many acoustic performers secretly wish they had some of your voices.  Just as you may wish you knew how to play an instrument.

Musicians, some of you are absolutely amazing. the time and work you have put into learning the instrument shows in the quality of music you grace our stages with.

Regardless, stop and look at what as a community we have done.  So many things, I have seen you do.  You put aside track or acoustic and banded together to become a very powerful force. I sit here thinking of the many many things I have seen over the years; Haiti, performers going thru health issues, overnight vigils, Wounded Warrior, Feed A Child, Stand Up 2 Cancer, Rodanthe, Oklahoma, RFL.  You did this without thought of whether you were track or acoustic.  This is what makes you a community I love so very much.

Now I have heard rumor of a performer that actually wants to picket track, hmmmm to each his own.  This is a performer that I had been thinking of hiring.....but if she were to try that here, she would join the ranks of Mankind and be one of the only couple performers truly banned.

The audiences are going to follow who they want and not who anyone dictates to them.  So instead of turning on each other, embrace each other and the talents each bring to the table.  whether it be an instrument or a voice, they do it with their heart offering their gifts to the public.

LIVE MUSIC HOPPING AND STAND UP 2 CANCER

First I need to apologize, shortly after my last blog an infection set in that truly knowcked me out, took me into the emergency room and after a round of antiobiotics...then it was time for a short hospital visit ANOTHER biopsy....giggles do they ever stop.  come home after a couple of days and caught a cold.  Now I am finally back up and running.

Stand Up 2 Cancer update.....well now I understand why so many become upset when it came to taking money out of Second Life.  Between jumping through their hoops and updating all the information....finally it is all being transferred!!!

Since I am feeling so much better and the venue is closed today....I thought I would do some venue hopping.  I went to hear a performer I never heard at a venue I have never been to....Lyrica Garden....This has to be such a picturesque venue....and this performer.....WOW  ....
