DAILY SCHEDULES CAN BE FOUND AT THE LANDING POINT OF BS'S "BRING A FRIEND AND STAY AWHILE" IN THE ROTATING SIGN.
DAILY SCHEDULE
For the third year in a row, the Second Life Music Community is holding a series of concerts to benefit Stand Up 2 Cancer.  As we did last year with a twist.  Second Life is so very diverse and so is Stand Up 2 Cancer, now having a presence in three countries.  The US, The UK, and Canada.  All Lindens donated will be divided evenly between the three countries.  At each event there will also be kiosks with the ability to donate directly via credit card to each country, allowing sl residents to ensure their donations are going closer to their own countries.  To Still Braveheart's knowledge a fund raiser like this has never been repeated in Second Life before.

I did want to explain a bit about about Stand Up 2 Cancer if you are not familiar with it.  It actually falls under the Entertainment Industry Foundation and was founded by a couple of women, Katie Couric being one of them.  They chose to take an innovative approach to ending cancer and developed dream teams of doctors both domestically and internationally.  the dream teams are comprised of some of the best doctors from all over the world, coming together to work towards ending cancer. Another important thing to note is that 100% of all donations goes directly to research and not obscure things entitled "Programs"  or CEO salaries.

SOMETIMES I JUST SHAKE MY HEAD

Second Life Live Music is truly the best community I have ever seen.  Before Second Life, I had been involved in many non profit organizations at local state and national levels.  I have never seen people like this community put differences aside and work hard, pouring their hearts in to things to make a difference.  Over the years I have watched them put differences aside to come together and make a huge difference in the world.  I have had the opportunity to work with them in the battles against cancer.  I have watched them show their huge hearts with Feed A Smile, Toys for Tots, Helping vets.  The size of the hearts in sl shows no bounds.

I wrestle with my thoughts long and hard, before posting these kinds of blogs.  But sometimes enough is enough and that being behind a monitor gives no the right to go back to being the 12 year old bully, or to think you ar better than anyone else.

This year more than any other 7 almost 8 years in the in the live music community, has shown me how much it is changing.  Twice this year I have broached the subject of cyber bullying.  Sighs now I can add on pettiness to the cyber bullying.  I am thoroughly amazed that anyone would take someone's rl and throw it out there for the world to see (to be honest, I am ashamed of being friends with someone that would do something like that), or that they would condemn someone because they were seeing an ex.  Chuckles stop and think about it.....that is an ex.  No longer your concern about who they see or don't see.  Think about--it is preached that women should not feel bad or insecure about the way they look, if they have misled someone, it is conversation that should be between the people that were truly misled, Not for the world to see and comment on.

I will just repeat something I wrote on a facebook past:   SL bullying is just another way of cyber bulling especially when they bring it to FB and other out of world places. The ironic thing is that if these same people hear about it in the news or anywhere else they can preach against it. How it can be so mean and hurt so many people. Maybe they should learn to look in the mirror and ask themselves if this the right way to handle something. I would bet that they know better, or they don't like looking in the mirror because they do not like themselves. They should be pitied for that....It is sad.

Lets all grow up and play nice in the sandbox.

An added note:  I was so glad to go and see one of those performers and that all the badmouthing has not taken its toll there were 60 people there.  Chuckles as a venue owner what would possess you to fire an extremely talented performer that has that kind of following.

THE PROCRASTINATOR HAS BEEN SL LIVE MUSIC VENUE HOPPING

I admit that I am the world's largest procrastinator.  I have actually gotten a great deal of venue hopping done, but in my defense I have also done a great done a lot of work on SL Concerts Benefit Stand Up 2 Cancer.  There is a surprise coming up, but I will share it in my next blog.  For now lets get back to the amazing venues and performers I have visited.

I started at my wonderful friend Laya'ss place.  Cafe Musique Where I had the benefit of listening to Aura Fitzgerald.  This was the first time I had the opportunity to hear her and I know it won't be the last.  It never ceases to amaze me of all the talent in Second Life.

Aura Fitzgerald at Cafe Musique 08052016

I went on to a place I had not visited in a very long time.  Trickster Sounds, owned by the amazing Lokki Merriman.  He was performing at the time so it was a treat to be there.  Many of you may not be aware of Trickster Sounds, it is a venue where you can find some of the most amazing performers.  Those that miss him as much as I do, can quite often find Strummer Voltee performing there. I love listening to Strummer, he was the very first performer I had ever seen, so if I happen to catch him in notices, I hurry there.  He is also such a great guy.

After Trickster Sounds I headed to Solar Winds.  It has been a long time since I was there and LaLuce has been a great friend, I have missed seeing her.  I was able to see the amazing TOXIE.

Toxie at SolarWinds 08052016
After Toxie was done, wow someone I had not heard in what seems like forever.  Tukso Okey.  What a fun night it turned into.
Tukso Okey at SolarWinds 08052016
On the sixth I noticed Neomaximus in events, headed over to hear him at Helle's Angels

NeoMaximus Brandenburg at Helle's Angels Music 08062016
After Neo came a performer I had never seen before, but his name alone made me stay.  We see many unque names in SL, but this one made every goofy pic that graces FaceBook pages flashing through my mind,  I was so intrigued I had to stay to wee Walmart Idol.  I was not disappointed.

Walmart Idol at Helle's Angels Music 08062016
Heading over to LoveKats to bug my very wonderful friend Kat, I got to see Raven.  And drive Kat a little crazy.
Raven at LoveKats  08062016
Then I headed over to The Gspot to watch DennyMac....I am starting to see Denny everywhere these days.  Yes I know I am biased.  In Denny's situation, remember I told you that I am not manager material, but I was lucky enough to introduce him to Solana Python, she is an amazing manager.

DennyMac at The GSpot 08062016

Every once in a while, I get to see an old friend perform and turn the tables on him.  On the 7th  headed over to The Rooftop and I got to see Wolfie Moonshadow.  Wolfie knows that this is the time of year that I am talking to tons of venues and performers getting SL Concets Benefit Stand Up 2 Cancer ready to go in September.  So in all his wisdom, said that he knew why I was there.  Laughing I had to remind him that he was one of the very first performers to tell me he wanted to help and that I was there just to hear him because I missed him.

Wolfie at Rooftop 08072016
After Wolfie, I headed over to a new venue for me, The Somerton Club, I was treated to Telima,   I have to say this woman can sing.  If you have not heard her, look for her in events and hurry over to see her.  You will thank me for it.

On the 9th I had gone over to Stargazers, but then much to my surprise he was followed by my very dear friend, Suzen Juel.  I love this woman, She has great talent, but is also a woman that I have so much respect for.
Suzen at Stargazeers 08092016
On the 17th I headed over to End of Time to see one of my oldest friends Russell Eponyym.  Russell has the nickname "The Music Whisperer"  This is nickname that truly fits him.  Russell opened BS's with back in 2009 and has ben a friend a mentor over the years.  When he saw me there, he did my favorite with him...his Sonnets and we did the dream dance.

Russell at End of Time 08172016
I actually saw even more but due to lag or something else going on at the time, I was unable to take a picture of them.

Now I have to tell about one.  Denny tp'd me the first time, telling me I had to hear this man.  All I can say is WOW.

I love listening to him, his voice has to be one of the most amazing I have heard.  His outlook about performing is a breath of fresh air.  He does not want to be paid, he does not want any of that stuff, He sings simply to make others happy and smile.  Unless someone gets a hold of him and changes the way he thinks, which to be honest I hope they don't,  I hope he stays true to himself.  With that said, if you happen to see Cudzoo1967,  make sure you listen to him.  I promise you that you will be just as amazed as I am.

SL CONCERTS TO BENEFIT STAND UP 2 CANCER

This year we are adding a theme.  The best way to explain it and also give you the opportunity to participate in rl, is to just use their words.  "As we get ready for this year’s SU2C telecast, we’ve launched a new social media campaign to encourage people to share their reasons to stand up to cancer. Whether your reason is a friend, family member, or personal experience with the disease, we want to show how we're all in this fight together. Please join our new campaign #Reasons2StandUp by sharing your own personal photos or videos to your social media channels using the hashtag #Reasons2StandUp. "

To adapt it to sl I think what I will be doing at BS's is accepting photos from people of their reasons to stand up in both rl and sl and displaying them on the venue.

The venues are getting their dates set up and working on their line ups.  More venues and performers are donating their tie and support daily. There may be some special surprises during the month, Watch the blog as they will be announced as they become organized.

BACK TO VENUE HOPPING IN SECOND LIFE LIVE MUSIC

After disappearing for almost a month, I am back and really getting out these days while working on SL Concerts to Benefit Stand Up 2 Cancer.  I started on the first of August.  Heading over to The Coffee House and Fireside Chat, I got to see a performer I have not seen in a while.  The very talented David Csiszer.  SL was being a bit rude at the time, so I tried hard to tip him...but sl refused to let me, so I sent it to him directly and still waiting to hear if he actually got it.

David Csiszer at Coffee House and Fireside Chat 08012016
I would have gone on after that but lo and behold one of my favorite pianists took the stage,  Chris Joel Thompson. I adore him, both as being so talented and also as a wonderful person.

Chris Joel Thompson at Coffee House and Fireside Chat 08012016

For my first day back out and about it was enough for me, and I called it a night.  On to the second of August.

I started the day at Quinn's Place, Quinn Mallory's new place.  There I had the opportunity to listen to Joe Parvane.  It's always a pleasure to hear him.

Joe Parvane at Quinn's Place 08022016
After Joe I headed over to one of my favorites, Cafe Musique.  Laya has some of the friendliest staff, it is always fun there.  Making my visit even better was the chance to hear Dandy Pianoman, another so very talented performer.  He is so talented on both the piano and the guitar as he switches between them during his show.

Dandy Pianoman at Cafe Musique 08022016

Then I headed over to see my friend Sin at The GSpot.  Listening to Dee Timeless.

Dee Timeless at The GSpot 08022016
From there I headed to Smoking Aces.  Another fun venue. Shannon and Rocky keep the place jumping.  Shawna Littleboots.  What a fun show she put on.

Shawna Lilleboots at Smokin Aces 08022016
Just when I thought I had seen enough in one day, I got a notice that The Quadradix was taking the stage.  I had not seen them in a bit so I headed over to Hearts Desire.  It was the first time I had been there.  What a great venue!  As always The Quadradix put on a great show!

The Quad at Hearts Desire 08022016
I stayed at Hearts Desire for a while, they had an amazing line up.  Cryptic Harmony followed The Quad.  Such a talented woman!

Cryptic at Hearts Desire 08022016
Next on the line up was Jon (Mulder Watts)  Jon holds a special place in my heart.  The very first year that I captioned SL Music Races, Jon was on the team.  Unfortunately, his schedule did not allow him to perform the way he would have liked to.  One day, I was by the kiosk by myself no event going on and up pops Jon with a with a generous donation, apologizing for not able to do more.  I was so amazed by the size of his heart.  I was so glad I got to see him last night as it was his last show in sl for a while while his rl really takes over.  He will be missed.

Jon ( Mulder Watts) at Hearts Desire 08022016
I have to hand it to Hearts Desire, it was a great line up!

I was getting really sleepy but we did take a few minutes and headed over to Villa Lobos to see the amazing Reggie Sunset.  I could not make it through his whole show but gave it a try.

Reggie Sunset at Villa Lobos 08022016
That was a lot in one day.  It was definitely time for my pillow.

AN EXPLANATION AND REQUEST

I owe you an apology with the week or so in the hospital, the recuperating, losing my power steering on my car, losing a cousin, and having all my kids come home at one, it really ate up the month of July, so I have been MIA.  But everything is calmed down and nothing is standing in the way of Stand Up 2 Cancer in September.  I will be sending out things to all participating venues and performers.  For those venues that have gone ahead and picked their day and started scheduling thank you so very much..

If you have not already, please get me that information.  If you are a venue, host, or performer that has not already told me you are interested you would like to help, please do so as soon as as possible, We all know that this year is flying by.

This year the live music community has been hit so very hard by cancer, and touched all our hearts so deeply.  It serves as a reminder just how very important research is.

I am looking forward to working with each of you.

WHAT A MONTH IT HAS BEEN SO FAR

Ya know I never take the laptop wth me to the doctor office, usually just the tablet and phone.  But I had a few hours stuck between the MRI and the appt so I thought what the heck.  Little did I know that I wasn't going home so ultimately I was glad I did.  It did give me a chance to log in and catch some live music before I ended up sleeping for a couple of days.

On the 8th of July I was able to get in and see some amazing friends and performers.  Starting with one of my oldest friends Mamaa Saiz at Surfside Hideaway.  Though I have not had a chance to see Mamaa in a long time, he remembered the wondered hit wonder that I loved (At this moment by Billy Vera and the Beaters) and performed  it for me.  Though as Mamaa always reminds us Billy Vera did much more than just this song.

Mamaa Saiz at Surfside Hideaway 07082016
Then I headed over to a favorite venue  LoveKats to see the very talented Mavenn

Mavenn at LoveKats 07082016
Then I was out of Live Music for a few days and also sleeping for a few days.  Even when I got home late on the 13th was still spending a great deal of time sleeping and with a heating pad on my back. No one ever warns you what those surgical tables do to your back.  In many ways I am still feeling it.

On the 14th I was able to venture out once again.  So I headed out to Balboa Bay,  I got to see my old friend Chris Darkstone,

Chris Darkstone at Balboa Bay 07142016
My buddy Max was up at Balboa Bay. After numerous attempts to get in because the sim was full, I finally did.

Max Kleene at Balboa Bay 07142016
Yesterday, I was just able to make it to one show, but wow what a great show.  Noma Falta, such an amazing performer at The Fillmore.  Sadist does a remarkable job with The Fillmore, always packed and always welcoming.  I believe it is one of the best venues in sl.

Noma Falta at The Fillmore 07162016
Today I was just able to get to a Max Kleene show at another favorite venue, The Seaside Lounge.

Max Kleene at Seaside Lounge 07172016
I also headed over to Kickin to see another amazing friend. Krisie Snowdrop.  Krisie is one tthat I get to follow on FB as well as sl.  I am overjoyed with her successes in RL Music as well. she is truly one talented performer.  I have said it often in the past....Canada provides tons of talented perfrmers to sl.

Krisie Snowdrop at Kickin 07172016

SL CONCERTS FOR STAND UP 2 CANCER

I can only apologize immensely for not being able to get out and promote this magnificent cause better.  Unfortunately my rl health decided to play some tricks on me and it is taking me a couple of weeks to completely get back on my feet, during what is normally my busiest time.  I will try to get out to each venue and each performer.  Last year we doubled we did last year as far as venues, performers, and fund raising.  We are almost at the amounts of venues and performers that we were last year.  If I have neglected getting to your venue to talk with you, please im me in world, email me stillbraveheart@gmail.com), or respond here if you are interested in participating

STARTING JULY WITH A BANG IN SL MUSIC!!! AND IN RL

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY THOSE OF YOU FROM THE USA!

TO MY FRIENDS IN CANADA A LATE HAPPY CANADA DAY

Can you believe half the year is over????  Wow the older I get the faster time flies by.

On the 1st I was able to get out and visit some venues.   I started out Live Music, my first time there and it is owned by the talented and truly entertaining KevinMThomas Carpool.  When I went there it was because I saw Kevin and Mike00 Carnell dualing.  It is fun just listening to them.

Mike Carnell and KevinMThomas at Live Music 0701201
From there I went to a favorite that I had not been to in a quite a while....Kickinhttp://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//171/184/24!!!!  I got to see Premium Composer.  Premium always does a great show that makes you leave your chair, get up and dance.  There is such a fun group of people at Kickin.

Premium Composer at Kickin 07012016
On the 2nd I was able to get out again.  I headed over to Endeavor Cove to see one of my favorites, I consider her a good friend in sl and hope to see her at a jam soon in the future.......Eliz Wantanbe.  Eliz put on a great 4th of July show leaving me blown away with some of her patriotic renditions.  Oh an with all the clothing you see for the holiday....I love the dress she wore.

Eliz at Endeavor Cove 07022016
From there I whisked off to see BigTex at Inspiration Music Venue and Art Gallery

BigTex at Inspiration Music Venue and Art Gallery 07022016
I had wanted to get this out to out to you over a week ago, but I had my own big bang.  Most of you know that I closed my venue from events due to health issues that almost sent me into a coma.  Shortly after that I learned my body had created its own shunt was causing meds to bypass the failing organ.  At the time it was not that large and when I recognized it would just double or triple my meds.  Well that standard MRI that always left me as status quo, did not leave me with status quo.  I never made it home from the dr office I was admitted to the hospital from the office.  I guess that shunt had gotten rather large, which explained why I had to keep doubling and tripling meds, add into that some clots that were causing blockages in a couple major veins.  Kind of funny to me as I have little to no platelets but it still happened and that was scary.  What they did do after a couple of days of deliberating was decide to put in a shunt, close off the one that my body made.  At the same time they were able to push the clots kind of far so they weren't causing the blockages. very hesitant about putting me on any kind of blood thinners, afraid it would cause internal bleeding so they will be monitoring very closely.  Finally got home last night and am off the pain killers, but with all the blood draws, the transfusions, and the iv's  my arms do resemble a junkie's.  If all works as it should I won't have to double and triple my meds who knows maybe even reopen the venue one day.  The dr that performed this as well as my oncologist both have said that they believe I could go back on the organ transplant list, though I am still far from needing it, they commented that this procedure can make the organ go from bad to worse much faster.  Though I can not complain, I have beaten every odd they gave me.  I do have to admit that over a week in the hospital is way too much

WHAT A FUN WEEK IN LIVE SL LIVE MUSIC!!!

On the 23rd I headed over to LoveKats to see Gibson.  Gibson is an amazing performer.  Talented and fun.  If you have not heard him yet, I highly suggest that you do.  If you have then I am sure you already love listening to him ass much as I do.  Between Gibson and Love Kats what a fun time it was, now keep in mind that I am biased about Love Kats,  Kat has done an amazing job on that venue and is also a close friend.

Gibson at Love Kats 0623 2016
When I left Love Kats, I headed to a venue that I had never been to before.  You know me I love finding new venues, seeing the creativity because everyone is different and each venue is a reflection of its owner.  This time I went to Stallion Jazz Club it is a beautiful venue and graced by ChicagoSax.  Now that man can play.  He is a great musician in both sl and rl.  Turns out that since I moved back to civilization we are not that far from each and know soo many of the same places.  Laughing if we compared notes maybe even the same people.
ChicagoSax at Stallions Jazz Club 062302016

I did not get out until I was asked to come listen to the absolutely amazing Steve Genesis.  He was donating his time and talent to Musicality.  For those that are not familiar with it, Musicality was a fund raiser organized for an extremely worthy cause.  As many of you in the US are aware, due to spending cuts out music programs for children is nonexistent in some areas and very limited in others.  I believe the best way to describe what this fund raiser was about is to just give you the mission state of Spread Music Now:

"Facing the Crisis at Hand

Confidence. Creativity. Collaboration. These are just some of the things that improve when a child participates in structured, rigorous music education. Multiple studies have shown that students that learn music develop stronger academic skills, and in general, enjoy a higher quality of life than peers who do not study music.

Unfortunately, cuts in school music education programs have left many students with minimal exposure to the arts. This trend has taken an especially harsh toll on high-need students, since school-based programs are often the only opportunity they have to receive music education.

SpreadMusicNow is committed to filling this gap by funding music programs that foster continual learning and that put students on a clear path to college, career, and life success.

We believe that by providing a child with music education, they will experience a better quality of life and develop skills that will help them to not only become successful students, but role models that benefit society as a whole.
While there I was able to see the a few different performers.  Starting out with Stephen Genesis....I am going to have to follow him around the grid....Wow I really enjoyed listening to him.
Steve Genisis at Musicality 06252016
Some of my favorites that I stayed for.
Collin Martin at Musicality 06252016
And SoulVision
SoulVision at Musicality 06252016
The day was filled with amazing performers all giving their time and talent.  A reminder of how large the hearts of the SL Music Community are.
On the 29th I was able to get out again.and headed out to another venue I had never been to, Bonanza Country Club.  Oh my gosh how welcoming they are.  Bella1 Abbott is one of the nicest women.  I got to see Gemini Silverstone.  What a fun time that was.

Gemini Silverstone at Bonanza Country Club 0629016

Then I was tp'd to another favorite favorite country performer, Shaye Dezno.  Unfortunately I arrived late and just caught the end of her show. I was unable to take a picture. From there we tp'd right over to Acoustic Cave and had the added benefit of listening to the so very talented Gary Jonstone.  Acoustic Cave is a mainstay in sl and one that always is a great place to hear so much talent, Max does a wonderful job of always having a great line up.
Gary Jonstone at Acoustic Cave 0629016
Wow I forgot the 30th!  I wnt over to Duval Street and Pub and saw everyone's favorite Acoustic Energy.  Another absolutely amazing performer.
AE at Duval Street and Pub 06302016
And now June is done.  What a month it has been.
