A LONG OVERDUE P0ST, EXPLANATION, AND GOODBYE

This will most be likely be a long post as I want to take the time to explain my decisions.
first and formost there will never e enough words to thank you enough or all that so many of you have done this year and in years past for Stand Up To Cancer whether you performed, hosted an event or made a donation.  You have each made a difffernece and something I will always be so grateful for.

Unfortunately, this was the last year for Stand Up To Cancer,  If someone would like to take it into next year, please email me and I will work with you on all the contacts in the US, and the UK and Canada.

In 8 years I have made some wonderful friends and some that I hope will continue in rl.  Please know that what I am about to say does not apply to everyone.

Throughout the Stand Up to Cancer campaign I became very disillusioned with the live music community for number of reasons.  Over the past year both in Facebook and in Second Life, I have seen so much back stabbing.  When you add that to these "mega" management companies.  These companies really do not encourage a performer to talk and build a relationship with the venue owners.  One company in particular, Whispering Sands, guaranteed that the most of the time the performer really does not promote the venue. I have always believed that performers and venues both do better when the relationship is there.  When it comes to a fundraiser, they are even worse.  I did have to laugh at two performers that were removed from the auction.  The first being Lee Winegarden.  He dropped out because he had discussed it with me and wanted to do the auction, but his manager "girlfriend" actually got mad at him for it...I had not discussed it with her.  He dropped out to keep the peace.  I laughed inside thinking I know who calls the shots in that relationship.  Collin Martin was the second.  His manager is very difficult to work with.  I thought it was just me but other venue owners told me the same thing.   She took him out and I brought it up to him in the Twin Cities.  Again no mind of his own, it was his manager and he does not do anything she does not tell him.  I really had to shake my head at the community this past year.  I went through the fund raiser because I had told both the Stand Up To Cancer organization and the community that I would do this.  I had thought about reopening the venue when the fundraiser was done, though I had committed myself to never hiring anyone from Whispering Sands or a few others. But buy the time the fundraiser was done, I was so disillusioned with a community that I have loved for 8 years.  I have spent a small fortune to support this community, worked hard with the live music community to hopefully make a difference in both sl and rl. But the live music community has changed so much and in many cases became out and out mean, that I have had enough. I was just going to walk away from the community.

Leaving sl completely was not due to the live music community.  With the amount of money we brought in Stand Up To Cancer in 2015, I had to go to LL for an increase in the amount taken out of sl or I would still be taking it out very slowly.  They changed it with no questions asked, just a thank you for doing this.  This year when I went to remove it, I read it wrong and made the mistake of requesting an increase again.  That was my mistake.  When I looked again, I realized my mistake and took the money then sent it to the various locations.  Well that was not good enough for LL.  they have asked me for receipts from 2015 and 2016.  I had to go back and search through emails (no easy task as organized as I am in sl, my mailbox is a mess) which were sent to them as well as links to the the transaction pages which are public, and the pages at the various locations so they could see the donations as well.  Now one would think that was good enough.  but it has been one thing after another. Sometimes having to send them the information two and three times Copy and pasting the receipts was not good enough, they never verified the donations through the locations nor the transaction pages. Using their risk management as an excuse.  I told a relative about this and he replied that the only people I who ever have to give that information to is the IRS.  Again not an issue for me as I do not deduct the donations, it is not mine to deduct, and when requested they see it is a just q wash and not income.  I, finally after fighting them for a month, threw my hands in the air they had put an administrative hold on me and I am not fighting them anymore.  They never answered me when I asked them if they did this to every fundraiser done in sl (now that would really keep their risk management busy as most are not as transparent as I am).  Now it is in the hands of an attorney.  If my attorney actually knocks some sense into sl and they lift that hold, I will only come back to transfer inventory items to friends on things I am able to transfer.  I currently have about 90k items in inventory.  Most are no copy but are transferable.  LOL his includes just about every gown that Azul has made as well as Wild Orchid, many theme items, and tons of landscaping items.  I hate to see them go to waste.

Between the feelings I have toward the live music community as a whole (there are a few that I hold very high in regard and will be in touch with) I am no longer interested in continuing in sl.

For anyone that would like to contact me, please feel free to email me at stillbraveheart@gmail.com

MORE THANK YOU'S TO SL CONCERTS TO BENEFIT STAND UP TO CANCER

I know I thanked the many venues that particpoated but there are some people that would have turned the  the last blog into a novel, so I broke it up between the two blogs.  There are so many others that gave of their hearts.  there is no way we can forget
THE PERFORMERS!!!!
Watch events....go see their shows, let them know how very much you appreciate all they do.  These performers each supported and or performed with SL CONCERTS BENEFIT STAND UP TO CANCER.  Many performed a number of times at a number of different venues, many participated in the auction.  These same performers give of their hearts in so many ways.  Feed a Smile an the upcoming Toys For Tots are two of the many ways they give of their hearts, their talents.

There are people that I missed because I did not receive their names and if you are one of them, pleas know your help was so very appreciated

The venues I listed in my last blog and all of these performers, hosts, and managers...and the hundreds of people that donated--all I can say is WOW.  You all came together and made what started as an idea a true reality,  Together each of you made a difference in the world.

HOW DO YOU THANK A COMMUNITY FOR 3 YEARS IN A ROW

There truly are no words,  I am currently awaiting Linden Labs to approve the transfer of so many linden at a time, and putting together the HUGE list of contributors so that I may say thank you personally.  I am still on September 4.  Got the first transaction taken care of at least through Linden, just waiting for them to process it.  All transactions can be found at 2016 SL CONCERTS BENEFIT SU2C TRANSACTIONS

You should know that I have been so quiet because to be very honest I have been overwhelmed.  So many times I have said thank you to this community, and always it does not seem like enough.  I wrack my brain trying to tell you just how much this community means, gives, without sounding like a broken record.  There are things that have remained over the years every time I have said it, so if I sound like a broken record so be it.

THERE IS NO COMMUNITY IN RL OR SL WITH THE HUGE HEARTS, CARING, GENEROSITY ND LOVING SPIRIT AS THE SECOND LIFE LIVE MUSIC COMMUNITY.

The best way I can think of thanking the performers and the venues that helped make this a reality this year is to visit them.

Visit these venues, they provide amazing venues for the amazing SL performers to appear.  Without venues they don't have a place.  They do this simply out of love for the Second Life Live Music Community. Remember they deserve your thanks.  They not only provide wonderful performers, but they also give of their venue their line ups and their time to make a difference in the world with Stand Up To Cancer.

Cafe Musique -- Laya, owner---This woman and her staff put together two amazing days 24 hours each day of music just for Stand Up To Cancer, One at the beginning of the month and the huge push that went the last day.

The Lemonrock Cafe--River Lemon, owner.  Another huge wow. Two days in a row of huge line ups.

I am going to attempt to bring both Lemon and River into more of the organizational roles next year.

The G-Spot -- Sin, Owner.  This woman, herself has had a very rough year yet still found it within her heart to put together an amazing line up.  One can not help but love Sin.

Lovekats -- Kat, owner--I attended part of her event, this woman challenged over and over during an amazing event.  Though she stays so very busy, I adore Kat, getting to meet her in twin cities at the jam holds a special place in my heart, though for a moment there I though she was going to break my neck she hugged me soo hard.

MacLintons Pub-- Hank, owner.  This man brought his venue in at the last moment, put together an amazing line up.  Besides he is partnered with one of the most established clothing designers in sl and she does an amazing work, Tres Beau Designs.  Watch MClinton's for The QuadRadiX to appear, he won them in the auction

Twilight Under the Moon -- Mike, owner --another venue that joined at the last minute, and put together an amazing line up at the last minute.  He is also continuing it after the the 30th of September.

Free Spirit Farms -- Samm, owner.  This was Samm's first year doing something like this and I helped him put together a great line up.  It is due to his suggestion that a future blog will be written addressing good ideas to putting together an amazing line up.

1st Chapter Plaza -- Matt, owner.  This is a great venue and Matt's Manager, Arimas, is just amazing running two separate days of live music.

Breakers --  Smilemaker, owner.  Her name truly fits her.  She does what she does best and thinks outside the box of other venues, fitting in a great line up.

Ann Seetan's 'Place of Grace Ballroom -- Ann, owner.  Ann actually has three different venues that I know of, there may be one or two more.  Ann utilized every one of those three venues, going to each of her regular performers and they all were quick to perform for stand Up To Cancer.

Moonshine & Roses -- Slider, owner, After harassing Slider for weeks his manager the amazing Whispers stepped in and put together a absolutely wonderful event.

Ce Soir --  Mirelle and Aeon, owners.  I can never say enough good about these two.  Not only did they hold the opening of Stand Up To Cancer, but they added two more days of wonderful performers, including their jazz and blues day.  Mire an Aeon went above and beyond an made it to my venue to help as much as possible.  They were huge helps, allowing me time to take breaks and deal with the thousand im's I was constantly receiving.

Coffee's Live Music Venue -- Coffee, owner.  This was Coffee's first year with Stand Up To Cancer and Machka did a great job in putting together an event.

Stargazer Cafe -- Tay, owner.  Tay and Trick wanted to be able to hold a Stand Up To Cancer event so much that they chose a different day when they usually are closed to put together a line up.  Their drive and dedications speaks so very highly of them.

Trickster's Sounds -- Lokki, owner.  There is no one that is so willing to do anything related to cancer research than Lokki.  It is also the time of year that he takes a holiday each year so Kaylantra puts together the best line up.  It is also one of the few venues I did not get to and wanted to so badly for they had the one performer that I love dearly both as a performer and a person, Strummer.

MPW Church and Music Venue-- Shawna and Big Tex, owners.  If there was ever a woman that gave from her heart so very much it is Shawna.  You can't help but adore her.

Windlight/Kultivate Magazine -- John, owner.  John thinks outside the box and puts together some different types of events.  I did not get a chance to get to them, once because I had my own venue going and the second time I was at the jam.

Bonaventure Square - The Galleria of Fashion--Meredith, owner.  This is just one of those venues that feel so comfortable at and have such fun.

Party Beach Scheveningen -- Guus, owner.  Guus puts together a fun event each year, usually always one the first of the campaign.  This year he started the event days before the campaign kicked off.  Such dedication to fighting cancer.

Acoustic Cave -- Max, owner.  Max is an amazing venue owner one of the oldest venues n sl and always ready to do an event for Stand Up To Cancer.

Ashley's Oasis -- Ashley, owner.  This woman has truly won my heart, she works with us every year on Stand Up To cancer, always with one day completely filled with events.   this year Ashley totally surprised me and asked me later in the month if she could do it again.  Chuckles, you know I would never turn her down.

Smokin Aces -- Shannon and Rocky, owners.  This is a couple that has never failed to amaze me.  Each year they put together a full line up, the fully deck their venue out to reflect the theme, an more so, even their hosts use all the tools I have given out.  When Shannon puts together an event, it is always done so well.

Lil Red's -- Valerie, owner.  This was not only Valerie's first year with doing an event for Stand Up To Cancer,It was also Valerie's first event in her brand new venue.  Toward the end she asked if she could it again.  Watch for this venue in events, I have a faith in Valerie that she will have a wonderful venue with a great line ups.

SolarWinds Music Live Club - LaLuce, owner.  La Luce and I have been friends for many years.  This was her first year in doing an event with us.  I have to hand it to LaLuce, within a matter of days of telling me that she wanted to do an event, she had a full line up set up.

The Hollywood Ballroom and Theater -- Origen, owner.  This venue and Origen himself are just simply amazing.  It's one of my favorite places to visit on the weekends.

Bound Elegance -- Ailsyn, owner.  Venue owners never cease to amaze me with their dedication  I truly did not think Aislyn was going to do anything this year.  At the end of the campaign she asked if she could keep going with it.

There are also a couple of places I don't want to miss.

Many of you read Living In a Modem World written by my wonderful friend Inara Pey.  She has always been our biggest supporter following our events and keeping people informed.  What many may not realize is that she also owns Holly Kai Art Garden and  Caitinara Bar

Carrie's Creations.   Carrie made a gown that was sold specially for this event.

THESE ARE SOME AMAZING PERFORMERS WITH THE LARGEST HEARTS IN ANY WORLD

AMAZING AUCTION AND CHALLENGE

As we are in the last week of the SL Concerts Benefit Stand Up To Cancer, this community amazes me.  Each day we are getting one or two more performers that want to enter the auction.  Performers are collecting donations from people and sending them to me with a list of names so that who I know who to thank at the end of it all.  Three more venues have contacted me and one is putting their line up together for tomorrow.  Another already has a line up in place of 6 or 7performers.  These are all performers that are foregoing their pay to do this.  It is so overwhenlming .

The challenge is continuing.  If you send me a pic either rl or sl of someone that you stand up to cancer for I will donate 100L for eah picture received.  The walls are getting full.  Keep sending them I can always add more walls to display them from.

I have opened a new day Thursday the 29th for any performer that would like to do an event.  All of the hours before 3pm are filled.  we also have one opening at 4 pm

SHOW US WHO YOU STAND UP FOR BY SUBMITTING A PIC TO STILL BRAVEHEART IN SECOND LIFE.  FOR EACH PIC SUBMITTED STILL WILL DONATE 100 LINDEN!!

A CHALLENGE FOR EVERYONE

Each of us has been touched by cancer in some way shape or form.  Each of us has our own reasons for standing up to cancer.  This is your chance to show us your reason and make a difference in the battle against cancer.  We have walls up that will hold pictures of the many reasons people stand up 2 cancer.  Whether it is rl or sl, no names will appear unless requested.  For every picture I receive to place on that wall I will donate 100 linden.  This is your chance to show your reason you despise this disease, why you stand up to it and make a difference at the same time.  You can send me your pictures through email at stillbraveheart@gmail.com or in world to still Braveheart.  So tell me JUST WHO DO YOU STAND UP FOR???????
